The client is a marriage and family therapist who works closely with individuals experiencing stress, anxiety and handling complex emotions. To support her clients outside of therapy sessions, she wished to create a series of simple, hands-on tools such as visual breathing guides and physical prompt cards to help calm and refocusing.
This is a series of five exercises, each with four tasks: Breathing exercises (box breathing, lengthened exhale, lion’s breath...), body and mind exercises (muscle relaxation, mindful activity, grounding, visualization...). In order to visually support the exercises, I created a visual language that accompanies the words with graphics symbolizing slow steady rhythm, gradual dissipation, gradual release, breath focus, etc.
